Smart's Fair Usage Policy: It's All About the Money

Smart Bro Fair Usage Policy

I just want to express my personal opinions regarding this "Fair Usage Policy". After reading Smart's official article about their stupid fair use policy, I can't help myself from doing this post. Here's why:

If you're a regular reader of my blog, you may already know how bad my "Smart Bro Experience" was. I couldn't even remember the last time I was able to enjoy their service. Every time I tried to request for a technician to check our internet problems personally, they always say that there's nothing they can do because the reason behind the crap was CONGESTION IN OUR AREA.

Now, is this "congestion" our fault? Hell no! It's their job to control the number of subscribers within an area. All their records are encoded, so a few clicks on their keyboards should show them the accurate number of subscribers in an area whenever someone's trying to apply for a new plan.

Or are they that dumb to accept and accommodate excessive subscriptions despite the fact that "congestion" is their main problem? I don't think so.

It's all about the money, of course. To conceal this, they came up with a more stupid idea - they released this "Smart's Fair Usage Policy" which lowers the internet speed to manage overall internet usage. What's worse is the fact that even their remaining loyal subscribers who signed up for "up 2 Mbps unlimited plan" are affected.

The service sucks really. Seriously??? 0.08mb download speed???? Fuck!!!!!!!!! I want to disconnect my service but they have this 2 yr contract bond :/

I plan to have my service disconnected intentionally. To hell with a 0.18mb download speed! Other dsl services offer the same monthly rate at a speed of 1mbps to 3mbps speed. It's is all about the fucking money! I got screwed big time by Smart!

That policy really is unfair. It upsets me hearing that FUP everytime I call the hotline. What is the use of a whole lot of BW manager tools???

I used to subscribe to a local company (at the time was unavailable due to contract issues, Bullcrap, it was CCTN the ISP of ComClark. Never really had an issue with them except for updating the system or physical disconnect. But that said, we were stuck with choosing Smart. BIG MISTAKE. 1. in the beginning it seemed ok, but until we kept getting DOS (disruption of service), CS (customer service) kept saying the antenna was the issue, for a week it went on like this (total time they 'figured' it out); turned out to be a bad ethernet cable. 2. Slow speed during the hours of 6p-12mn (just happened during the 'ber months). 3. Speed remained inconsistant since ranging from 500b/s to 350kb/s and still the case.
4. Constant need to reset the ISP portal (happens now to this day) due to hangups, TAKES forever to reconnect.
5. Constant need to reset the router during the slow periods (happens several times a day) because the Portal goes offline.
6. During connection it would choke up.

DO NOT GET SMARTBro Canopy or its derivatives.

WHAT SUCKS?:
Fiber is now available in our area!
CCTN is now available in our area!
ComClark is now available in our area!

CONTRACT ISSUES MY A$$.

Smart bro sucjs. I plan to report them to NTC because they are stealing our hard earned money.....what they refer to as 'fair usage policy' is unfair. Their customer service representative cannot even explain FUP. She keeps on mentioning about the user allocation volume but cannot explain it to me clearly. So unfair. I'll just report this unfair practice to NTC.

Smartbro service sucks!!! Especially their customer service. I have call many times at their customer contact support and nobody answers it. It's been 2 weeks since my internet is just 0.18mb download speed and NO customer support is available to answer any calls. Stupid ISP!

Yes, I agree that this policy was implemented so that they could earn more profit. If they cannot control the number of subscribers, then they should address it through improving their services/ adding whatever they need to supply internet connection with the same speed. They should have at least informed all subscribers of this stupid policy.
I can't believe we have been a victim of this policy just mid-month, considering the fact that before this was implemented, we used to have 3 computers playing online games for hours and encountered no problem.

UNFAIR FOR OUR USAGE POLICY. WE NEED FAST CONNECTION FOR ONLINE MARKETING AND THIS SMART IS STEALING OUR HARD EARNED MONEY

same shit with globe tattoo also after about one hour using you get a text to say they are slowing down your speed because of the fair usage bullshit then its impossible to use

For the first month... they speed was like "ALRIGHT!!!" with 238kbps while downloading torrents... but when February came... fuck their services!!!

i also have the same problem with smart bro canopy, i called two days ago to report my intermittent connection. the tech support said that madami raw ang gumagamit sa area ko kaya mabagal ang net. so sabi ko is kung paki adjust since hindi naman nyo aaminin na sobra ang subscriber per tower kaya nagkakaganito connection. then the other day i called first thing in the morning to check again if the connection is ok na. hindi parin daw. sabi ko is if hindi parin naayos net ko within 24 hours issupervisor na nila kakausapin ko. then on my 3rd call, is dun palang nalaman na na max ko na daw ang limit ko and they don't even know how much is allotted per subscriber. sad thing is wala tayo magagawa. i think globe and smart are conniving para matangap ng tao ang FUP and i think that NPC also is on their pay lis. kc meron na nagreklamo sa globe sa n pc nung una sila ng start mg FUP pero wala naman nangyari action nakipag meeting lang sila and after nun is patay na yong issue.

After ko magkaroon ng prob sa FUP lanst April 2013, is ngayon lang uli ako nag exceed sa limit na walang nakakaalam kundi ang mga boss lang ng smart. tech support said its confidential. how sad, they all making us fool.

Hi everyone,
I am a foreigner, I use Smart Bro and connection is too bad, even the bad service from customer. I want to cut contract with them, but they said I should pay the remaining 1 years, bz contract two years but i had used 1 year only. I don't want to pay anymore. But I move to another service, they will put foreigner to blacklist in immigration, please give me advice for this situation. Thanks.
